Less teeth, more wisdom?

I survived…  By some miracle I am still alive.  Okay, it was only my wisdom teeth….  But I am glad to report that the life of this blog and my new website (which will be updated soon) will not be cut short by any disaster of oral surgery.

From the stories I had heard going into the operation, I must admit, I was a little nervous.  I was a little more nervous as I was lying on the operating chair and the nurse started hooking up all sorts of things to my body.  First she put 3 patches on me and plugged in a cord to each one to monitor my heart.  Then there was an oxygen meter for my finger and a mask to pump the anesthesia into my nose.  Finally, I had to have an IV in my arm.  I’m sure most of this stuff is just precautionary but it made the operation seem a little more complicated.
After everything was hooked up, I don’t remember much of Tuesday.  I faintly remember stumbling to the car.  And then stumbling into the apartment and lying on the couch.  Everything in between is a blur.  I think I woke up Tuesday evening and my mouth was still bleeding.  But I guess seeing so much of my own blood was really the worst part so far (and by “so much” I mean “more than a scratch on the arm but it could have been a lot worse” -I just hate seeing blood).  I stayed at home on Wednesday and Thursday mostly due to my wife begging me to stay and rest.  I haven’t eaten much, mostly pudding, mashed potatoes, and yogurt.  The ibuprofen seems to be plenty strong enough for the little pain that I’ve felt and the minor swelling.  A lot of the stories that I’ve No more wisdom teethheard from other people seem to involve a lot more pain and misery.  I consider myself lucky.  The best part is that I made some progress on my website while I was at home.  Here is a picture that Amanda took after we got in the car.  I guess it’s not one of my finest moments.  She said I acted weird after surgery but I guess I don’t remember.  I wanted her to take one of me with all the stuff hooked up to my body but the camera was in the car.

So now I’m back at school for Friday and then we have a 3 day weekend.  And to think, in Michigan they haven’t even started school yet.  The first 5th Grade XC meet is today after school.  I got a call on Monday from a principal at Central Noble that wants to talk to me about teaching art.  I’ll see what that is all about on Tuesday.  Have a good Labor Day Weekend!
