Last Glaze Fire of 2010

Well, here are a few photos of the latest items to come out of the kiln.  Plenty of mugs, a few vases, some bowls and a few other pieces.

If you missed it, there was a previous post about glazing and firing.

Most of these pieces are from the “Pam’s Iron Series”.  (If you’re not up on the official Art By Fuzzy vernacular, I’m referring to Pam’s Blue and Saturated Iron glazes by Coyote.)  I also included the size of most pieces this time.  If you click on an image in the gallery it should take you to the image page and show a short description underneath.

Most of the mugs are nicely sized and pretty sturdy.  I’ve started to develop two distinct mug styles.  I call one “the flare” as it starts with a smaller diameter at the bottom and flares out as it approaches the rim.  The other is a more standard, straight sided mug and is often shorter and wider.  There are plenty of variations that I’ll continue to experiment with.

I hope to get in the studio for a couple of days after Christmas.  I have some shelves to install, clay to reclaim, and cleaning to take care of.  If I have any Christmas Break left after that I hope to fire up the wheel and throw a bunch of stuff.  Also: work on websites, shop around for a laptop, see some friends and family and… relax?  Have a great holiday season.
