Finally getting some images uploaded of the pots that I glaze fired at the beginning of the month!

Not pictured are a handful of pots that will be re-fired to improve some glaze results that weren’t what I was hoping for. And one or two mugs that already have happy new homes. And a few pots that are just fine but not eye catching enough for me to take a photo, edit the photo, upload the photo and type in a description of the pot.

Overall, I was pretty happy with this firing. A lot of nice pieces. No real catastrophes. A few that need a re-fire but mostly because the glaze is just “okay” and not “wow”. I really love the new combination of Eggshell White splattered and sprayed on Saturated Iron (both by Coyote Glazes). I’m getting kind of a rusted-but-glossy look with all kinds of interesting variations throughout an entire piece. I also splattered some Eggshell on the Pam’s Blue to get some brighter and blue-er marks on the blue-green base coat. And of course, I had a few vases with Red Gold running down over Pam’s Blue (becoming cliche/overdone? In my mind: quite possibly). I also added a little texture  and altered some of the pots. Most turned out really well. I’ll do more of this in the future.

The most exciting part for me though, is the little test tiles which I’ll have in the next post. I tried some more glazes from Mastering Cone 6 Glazes and got a lot of great results. Definitely a few worth pursuing.

I’ve been busy in July making a bunch of new pots. Check my Facebook Page for some short, intermittent updates.

Thanks for reading!
