Todd Pletcher is a potter from the Goshen area. (Also on Etsy). He is having an open studio/sale this weekend. So of course, I couldn’t pass up a chance to go see his work. Here are some photos of what I saw and what I brought home.

He has a fantastic range of surfaces and colors. From the rough, sometimes muted wood fired pieces to the streaked, super glossy surface he gets from his Amaco glazes, I probably could have spent all day there just studying each piece. He also has some interesting forms. The rims are thin and he gives them a slight square or triangle shape which looks wavy from the side. And the best part, he has some great prices. Everything was 25% off!
I could even afford to buy TWO items so I picked out a wood fired bowl and a glazed cup. Both were on the red dot special table, discounted even more. So there is another name I can mark off my list. I’ve got work from Justin Rothshank and Todd Pletcher to start my pottery collection. Now I just need something from Dick Lehman, Eric Kaufmann, Mark Goertzen, Fred Driver, Cindy Cooper… man, I’m not even out of Goshen yet!
I also got to meet some great people while I was there including Moey Hart who runs Studio 55 in Goshen and supplies the area with clay and pottery supplies. I’m looking forward to checking out his stash of clay and chemicals.
If you’re in the Goshen area today (Sunday) stop in and check out Todd’s work!
