New Work
I’ve been trying to get enough work scraped together for a bisque fire. Mostly weekend work. But soon that will change… It’s almost summer break! I’ve got  a nice platter thrown and trimmed that is drying slowly. I also have a handful of PBL mugs, a couple berry bowls, and a bunch of other random pieces.
I don’t think I have enough for a full bisque load but I plan to try some more decals. Hopefully I can fill in the empty spaces with those. I’m hoping to bisque fire by Tuesday or Wednesday. But there’s a chance that I might make a few more things if I have too much space to fill. We’ll see what happens.
What To Do When You’re Not Very Good At Making Lids
Make more lids. Obviously.
In the last cycle I tried to get better at making lids. Below you can see some of my lidded pots. I even made three small teapots, each with a different style lid. I still need a lot of work but I feel like I’m making progress.
Or maybe not…
New Glazes
I tested 6 new glazes in the last glaze fire. I’m also working with Steven Hill’s Strontium Crystal Magic. It really is like magic! I tried it on test tiles under my current glazes and the new glazes that I’m testing with some interesting results. I should have some better images soon.
Garage Sale Find
I picked up a set of wooden rings. I believe they are napkin rings… but we’re not fancy enough to have cloth napkins so I’ll stash them in my clay studio and use them as texture rollers. Only 50 cents for the set!
Studio Tunes
Spotify has become my go-to app for music. It is a streaming music service like Pandora but you actually get to pick whichever songs and albums you want to listen to and make your own playlists. There are commercials every few songs and there are certain artists/albums that aren’t available but it keeps me rockin’ in the studio. I think you have to login with Facebook.
Thanks for checking in. Hopefully I’ll catch up with the blog posts in the next week or so.
