Glaze Tests – Fall 2012

Here’s a blast from the past. I was just about to upload some images of new glazes when I realized that I never posted my third batch of test tiles. I hadn’t even prepared the images!

It’s a good thing I’m on summer vacation…

So here are all 25 glaze variations. The base glazes are High Calcium Semi Matte 2 and Waterfall Brown from the book Mastering Cone 6 Glazes. Click the images to see a larger, more readable version.

Conclusions

No glaring issues with any of the test glazes. I’ve mixed larger batches of two blue glazes. One is a darker blue from the top image. The other is the  first test tile in the second image with only Cobalt Carbonate added to the base. Both have performed well so far. I also mixed the white glaze but it isn’t as white because I used Rutile from a different place. But it is really nice for decal work.

I’ll have another group of images posted soon of new glaze tests that I finished in the past few weeks.
