The biggest news of the past 6 months is the arrival of our second child. Another daughter.
After some complications with the C-section with our first daughter my wife was monitored closely. The surgery for this one was planned for the end of May well in advance. But about a week before it was supposed to happen my wife woke me up at 2 AM because she thought her water broke. I had to go pound on the neighbor’s door at 2am so one of them could come stay with Quin. We went to the hospital, they checked everything, ran some tests and decided that the water had not broken. So we went back home and I called in sick for the next day. According to my wife something still wasn’t quite right. We went to the “lady doctor” the next day and they said go back to the hospital, it’s time to have the kid. So we went back to the hospital and got ready to have our second child. It’s all kind of a blur but that’s the way I remember it…
Everything went pretty well this time, way better than the first. Our doctor did a great job. He removed a bunch of scar tissue and got things back to how they should be. We were in surgery for over an hour but by the end of it we had our new baby.
So now we have two.
Reece is a pretty good baby. She started out with her days and nights mixed up so we didn’t get a lot of sleep at first. But now she is getting it figured out. She has also figured out how to eat like a champ and grow like a weed. Quin has also been really awesome. She helps out all the time and hasn’t been jealous much.
The timing was almost perfect. If Reece would have waited until the scheduled day I would have only missed a couple days of school. I missed a couple extra days but I had sick days to cover them. So it wasn’t really a big deal. And it has been awesome being home for the summer to be with the girls and help out.
Now as summer break slips away I’m getting ready to start a new adventure. One that I hope will give me a little extra time with my family. Look for more details in my next blog post.
