Making My Own Stamps

Inspired by a post by the Createniks, I’ve embarked on my own stamp making adventure.

Like Scott and Angi, I was using rubberstamps.net to order custom, unmounted rubber stamps. They do a really nice job and I was pleased with the quality of the stamps. But I always thought it would be more efficient, and possibly cheaper, to make my own stamps.

The answer, I discovered, is the Teresa Collins Stampmaker Kit. This seems to be a re-branded Imagepac Stampmaker aimed at crafters and scrapbookers (pink and girly).

I ordered mine from Home Shopping Network because they offered a discount and had the best price that I could find. Unfortunately, it looks like they are out of stock right now.

Pottery Ribs by Troy Bungart

I had a short blurb about my fancy new pottery ribs in a recent post. They were created by a fantastic craftsman and potter named Troy Bungart.

My mom was actually going to buy me one or two as a Christmas gift but she wasn’t sure what kind of rib would be best. So she gave me some money which I put with some other Christmas cash and emailed Troy during Christmas Break. He stopped at my house on his way home from work one day and brought a bucket o’ ribs.

Clay Studio Notes: February 2014

It took me a while to get back into the studio after Christmas break. I took some time to work on other projects, shovel snow and then I finally got everything organized and put back after the Clay Camp at WNP.

September Clay Studio Report

Towards the end of my summer break I got back into the clay studio and I’ve been trying to dedicate some time to the dirt now that school has started up again.

I just received some new clay tools on Friday from Clay King who had a Labor Day sale featuring some 99 cent specials and textured rolling pins for 4.99.

New Work

I’ve been trying to get enough work scraped together for a bisque fire. Mostly weekend work. But soon that will change… It’s almost summer break! I’ve got  a nice platter thrown and trimmed that is drying slowly. I also have a handful of PBL mugs, a couple berry bowls, and a bunch of other random pieces.

I don’t think I have enough for a full bisque load but I plan to try some more decals. Hopefully I can fill in the empty spaces with those. I’m hoping to bisque fire by Tuesday or Wednesday. But there’s a chance that I might make a few more things if I have too much space to fill. We’ll see what happens.
