Michiana Pottery Tour of 2015

Well, a few months have passed since the Michiana Pottery Tour so I thought it was about time for me to give a quick recap.

I returned to the tour stop at Northern Indiana Pottery Supply hosted by Moey Hart. There were a bunch of new potters there this year. I think one of my favorite parts about the tour is meeting new people and talking to them about their work. And of course, trading pots at the end!

2014 Middlebury Fall Festival

I hauled my pots and pottery wheel over to Middlebury for the annual Fall Festival on September 19th and 20th. It is the second year that I’ve demonstrated and sold pots. This year was even better than the first. Below is a photo that made it into The Paper.

Dick Lehman Open House

It’s been a while since the conversation took place but I’ll type out some of the details I remember and post some of my favorite photos. So take everything I say with a grain of salt since my memory is far from flawless.

Dick Lehman Pottery Sale

I had a chance to visit one of the finest potters in the area, possibly the world yesterday. Dick Lehman is having a pottery sale this weekend. Here’s what I came away with:

I drove over to his place yesterday around mid-day. I arrived just as it started raining, of course. They had some extra umbrellas available but I would have stood in the rain. There was another couple there when I arrived but after they left it was just Mr. Lehman and I. And it was fantastic. He explained how he made almost every piece that I looked at. He answered my questions. He showed me one of his photo books. He even offered to contact me for the next wood firing to see if I would help. And the whole time he had the excitement of a guy just pulling his first fantastic pot out of the kiln.
