Day One at the Middlebury Fall Festival

I just returned from the Middlebury Fall Festival and got cleaned up. It was a full day of packing, setting up, demonstrating and selling pots. I’m ready for bed but I still have some cleaning and preparing to do for tomorrow. I’ll be back at it tomorrow from 9 to 5. If you’re near Middlebury stop in and check it out. Here’s a picture my wife snapped:

Hopefully I’ll have a full write-up after tomorrow. And I unloaded the kiln two days ago. There were some great pieces!

September Clay Studio Report

Towards the end of my summer break I got back into the clay studio and I’ve been trying to dedicate some time to the dirt now that school has started up again.

I just received some new clay tools on Friday from Clay King who had a Labor Day sale featuring some 99 cent specials and textured rolling pins for 4.99.

Goshen Pottery Workshop, The First

There are some great benefits to living in the Goshen area. On Saturday I experienced another shining example of this at the first installment of the Goshen Pottery Workshop Series. I’ll admit, it was my first pottery workshop so I have nothing to compare it to but the surface class I took last summer… but it was amazing. Not only did I get to spend half a day with some of Goshen’s finest potters, I got to experience 3 hours of the best demonstrations that money can buy. And it all happened practically in my backyard.

The Goods

The Goods

So the following is my account of this tremendous time. Disclaimer alert: this is mostly from memory so there may be a few things that I don’t remember quite right, or things that I don’t remember at all!
