A Great Saturday in Goshen

Saturday turned into a really great day.  My wife and I got to see the open house for the Goshen Photographer’s Guild and the Painter’s Guild.  We got to see some great work at the Goshen Clay Artist’s Fall sale and purchased some sweet treats at the Farmer’s Market.  We had some great pizza from Chicago’s Downtown Eatery in Bristol and I got to see an intense triple OT football game.  To make it even better we got a call from the Goshen Photographer’s Guild because we won the door prize: an iPod touch!

I’ve got some finished pottery that I glaze fired last weekend.  I’ve also got some senior photos to work on and put up here.  So be on the lookout for some great posts in the near future.

Golf Photos from South Bend

Last Saturday I got to drive over to the Warren Golf Course at Notre Dame and watch the Future Collegians World Tour golf event.  I was most interested in one particular competitor: Ezekiel Schwartz of Brooklyn.  I had my camera so I took a few photos while I was there.

It was a pretty cool event even though the weather was pretty wet and dreary.  All the images were shot on a Canon 30D with either a Canon 28-135 IS or Canon 100-300mm 4.5-5.6 lens.  Images were cropped and slightly adjusted in Photoshop CS4.

HU Alumni Art Show A Success

HU Alumni Exhibit

HU Alumni Exhibit

On October 2nd, my wife and I traveled back to Huntington University to see some friends, take in some homecoming activities and attend the artist reception for the Alumni Art Show.

It was great to see Professor Coffman, Professor Hopper and a few other alumni artists.  There was a good variety of work and the reception was pretty well attended.

I submitted two ceramic works and a digital photo print.  If you missed the show here is a digital version of the work I submitted:

This is a digital photo that I took near Dublin, Michigan.  It was taken with a Canon 30D and a kit lens with a close-up attachment.

It was tough to decide what to send to the show.  I considered a number of different ceramic pieces and had a few photographs including some from Cancun.  If you would like to read a bit more, you can view my artist statement.  There will also be some photos on the Facebook Page.

Cross Country Shirt Designs: 2010

Now that the cross country season is wrapping up it’s time to reflect…  on the shirt designs.  I put together a few designs for the West Noble Middle School team as well as the West Noble Invitational.  Here you can see the finished designs in shirt form:

The WNMS team shirt design was one of a few different ideas.  I downloaded a font called “electric feel” from dafont.com and it made for an interesting design when it was placed on top of the big WN.  Done in Illustrator CS4.

I created a few different ideas for the Invite design.  The arrow design was the one that the Shirt Shack liked best.  I’ve been working with them to create some of their other shirt designs as well.  The meet took place on September 18th.  West Noble did well, probably due to their fantastic team shirts… Adobe Illustrator CS4.

New Site Design Released

Unless you are reading this blog’s feed you probably have noticed that the blog and the rest of ArtByFuzzy.com has been redesigned.  I decided to go with an a fluid layout and monochromatic color scheme with big, bold text.  I decided that the main purpose of my site is to show off my artwork.  Therefore, the images should be the part of the page that stands out and the text should be secondary but easy to read.

I created a child theme for the WordPress theme framework called Thematic.  Eventually I hope to clean up the child theme, which I call Basic Gray and release it to the public.  Its pretty simple and I’m sure it will improve over time but it accomplishes what I need right now.

After creating a WordPress theme for the blog I just transferred most of CSS code to a new style sheet to use for the static pages of the site.  I also broke the site into subdomains based on medium.  So now my ceramic work will be found at www.clay.artbyfuzzy.com.

I know there will be some bugs to work out and I’m working on filling in some more content.  Eventually there will be a full gallery and all the links will work like they’re supposed to.  If you have any constructive criticism or questions let me know.
